Divorce means that a marriage has been legally ended by means of a court order. You must obtain a legal divorce in order to remarry. Only a court can grant you a divorce. If your divorce is uncontested, neither party would ever have to go to court.
At it’s simplest, a Divorce is the untying of the legal “knot”, the last step in disentangling a disintegrated relationship. What makes divorces difficult is all the other things that usually have to go first, or along with divorce: property division, parenting arrangements, and support issues. Actually a court is prevented from granting a divorce unless property arrangements for child support have been made first. Do you want a divorce? Let’s talk. It may be much simpler, or waaaaay more difficult than you think.
